The Federation of Egbedore Local Government Student Association (FELGSA) has declared its support for the re-election of Rep. Bamidele Salam, member representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State, citing his contributions to education, student welfare, and youth empowerment across the constituency.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, the National President of FELGSA, Comrade Lawal Kehinde, said the association’s endorsement was based on what he described as a “verifiable record of interventions” that have positively impacted students and communities within the E4 Federal Constituency.
According to the student body, Rep. Salam has maintained a strong relationship with students and youth groups while consistently supporting educational and developmental initiatives through the BS-E4 Education Support Programmes.
FELGSA highlighted several programmes and interventions credited to the lawmaker, including mentorship opportunities for outstanding JAMB candidates, annual free summer coaching and computer training for secondary school students, bursary awards for over 5,000 higher institution students, and the distribution of thousands of free JAMB forms across the constituency.
The association also noted the launch of a ₦20 million scholarship and support scheme for indigent students, which it said has benefited more than 100 students, as well as cash rewards for outstanding academic performance among students in the constituency.
Other initiatives mentioned include sponsorship of students to the National Children’s Leadership Conference in Abuja, annual bootcamps, partnerships aimed at improving academic standards, classroom construction projects, distribution of educational materials to schools, and regular town hall engagements with student leaders.
FELGSA further acknowledged the presentation of a ₦5 million grant to support the continuation of the association’s secretariat project.
The association stated that the various interventions demonstrate Rep. Salam’s commitment to educational advancement, youth inclusion, and effective representation.
“At a time when citizens are demanding accountability and visible impact from public office holders, these achievements stand as evidence of purposeful leadership and sustained investment in human capital development,” the statement read.
FELGSA therefore called on students, youths, stakeholders, and residents of Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency to support Rep. Bamidele Salam for another term in office to enable the continuation and expansion of the programmes.
The association also urged political actors within the constituency to embrace peaceful, issue-based politics and maintain mutual respect throughout the political process.
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of FELGSA’s commitment to supporting initiatives and leadership focused on the welfare and future of students and young people across the constituency.
