In a landmark move underscoring a deep commitment to education, the Ara Growth and Youth Development Foundation (AGDF), in partnership with the American Friends Association (AFA), has provided N2,240,000 to support the payment of NECO examination fees for 33 students in Ara Kingdom.
The financial intervention, described by community leaders as unprecedented in the kingdom’s history, was formally presented to Baptist Secondary Grammar School, Ara, during a ceremony attended by traditional rulers, community chiefs, and school officials.
Leading the cheque presentation was the revered Alara of Ara Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Olubayo Adesola Windapo alongside the Asiwaju of Ara Kingdom, Asiwaju Tunji Olugbodi.
The event highlighted a growing collaboration between local leadership and international partners aimed at expanding educational opportunities for underserved youth.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the monarch expressed gratitude to the American Friends Association, led by Prince Olalekan Adeleke, for its generous support.
He urged the students to take full advantage of the opportunity, stressing that the initiative reflects a broader vision to empower young people through education.
He also reminded them that economic hardship should not define their future, encouraging resilience, discipline, and commitment to academic success.
In his remarks, Asiwaju Tunji Olugbodi described the initiative as a starting point for broader youth-focused interventions in Ara Kingdom.
According to him, additional programmes targeting youth empowerment, agriculture, and education are already in development, aimed at creating sustainable pathways for growth and prosperity.
The Principal of Baptist Secondary Grammar School, Mr. Ajibola Tajudeen Abiodun, commended the gesture, calling it a transformative investment in the future of the students.
He expressed appreciation to the traditional leadership and donors, while urging the beneficiaries to excel in their examinations as a mark of gratitude.
