The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest has officially condemned the recent violent clash between rival cult groups on the campus of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, which resulted in student being injured.
In a letter addressed to the management of the institution, Comrade Samuel Idowu, the Director of Students Affairs for NANS Southwest, expressed deep concern over the incident, which has shaken the campus and the wider student community.
Idowu extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized that the safety and well-being of students must always be a top priority.
“This unfortunate incident underscores the urgent need for improved security measures at Osun State Polytechnic.
“Every student deserves to study in an environment free from violence and fear.
“We implore the management to take swift action to ensure that such a tragedy does not occur again,” Idowu stated.
The NANS Southwest director of Students Affairs called on the management of Osun State Polytechnic to bolster security protocols, collaborate with law enforcement, and promote peace among the student body.
He further urged the institution to address the root causes of the violence and implement lasting solutions to maintain a peaceful learning environment.
“NANS Southwest will hold the management accountable for ensuring the safety of students on campus.
“We demand that immediate steps be taken to prevent future outbreaks of violence,” the letter concluded.
The NANS Southwest is closely monitoring the situation and awaits a response from the management of Osun State Polytechnic regarding the steps that will be taken to address the concerns raised.
