As Christians around the world mark Palm Sunday, a significant beginning to the Holy Week, the Lawmaker representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State at the National Assembly, Representative Bamidele Salam, has extended heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to all Christian faithful, urging them to reflect deeply on the values of peace, sacrifice, and unwavering hope.
In a powerful message commemorating the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, Rep. Salam described Palm Sunday as a timeless reminder of humility, service, and the ultimate sacrifice for the good of humanity.
He called on Christians across Nigeria to use this sacred period to renew their commitment to nation-building, spiritual discipline, and compassionate leadership.
“Palm Sunday is not only a celebration of faith but a call to live out the virtues that Jesus Christ exemplified—selflessness, love, and courage in the face of adversity.
“As we begin this Holy Week, I encourage all believers to draw strength from the message of Easter, which offers hope even in the darkest moments,” he said.
Rep. Salam emphasized the critical role of religious tolerance and unity at a time when Nigeria and the world continue to grapple with political, economic, and social challenges.
He urged Christians to remain steadfast in prayers for national healing, peaceful coexistence, and responsible leadership.
“Let this Holy Week be a turning point for personal reflection and collective action. Let us be instruments of peace in our homes, communities, and country. In this sacred season, may our hearts be filled with faith, our actions inspired by love, and our spirits anchored in hope,” he prayed.
Rep. Salam also extended prayers for divine protection over all Nigerian citizens as they journey through the spiritual significance of the Easter season, calling for renewed commitment to values that uplift humanity.
